Malaysia fell to its worst ranking!-Corruption Perception Index(CPI)

Malaysia fell to its worst ranking and score in 15 years in Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index (CPI) for 2009. Malaysia plunged nine places from last year's 47th CPI ranking to 56th position. Malaysia's CPI score plunged to the lowest in 15 years to 4.5. Its previous worst scores were 4.8 in 2000 and 4.9 in 2002.

Highest scorers in the 2009 CPI were New Zealand at 9.4, Denmark at 9.3, Singapore and Sweden tied at 9.2 and Switzerland at 9.0.





A Merdeka Centre poll in September and October this year found that 74 per cent of Malaysians were dissatisfied with the government’s handling of graft and 67 per cent were also unhappy with how the administration dealt with social problems.
